Sarah Keenan is an undergraduate student at the University of Florida. She spent her first two college years in journalism and interned with Orlando Weekly and Live Music Guide. Occasionally, she still contributes music-related news and reviews to the latter.

Although she remains interested in publication opportunities, she is now focused on an academic course in film and media studies. Suitably enough, she credits François Truffaut and Cahiers du Cinéma as important contributors to her initial interest in film. Apart from the filmic realm, she fancies stand-up comedy, classical piano (J.S. Bach), the Latin language, Franz Kafka and the dialectical prowess of Christopher Hitchens. Her favorite band is Sparks.

Her favorite director is Tsai Ming-liang

Joshua Philip Schmidt is an American filmmaker who was born and raised in Mount Airy, Md. He received his Television Production Certification from Frederick Community College and completed additional courses in design, digital photography and creative writing as self-elected substitutes for the lack of a formal film program.

After finishing college, he chose to invest in film equipment, rather than enroll in a four-year institution. He has worked on several short films and often writes and directs them using his own gear. Understandably, he supports digital cinema, with its life-giving means of filmmaking made inexpensive enough for the average consumer, as a boon to the film industry.

He currently lives in Charles Town, W. Va., but he plans on being in Seattle, Wash., by next year. There, he will continue pursuing filmmaking, photography and painting.

His favorite director is Yasujirō Ozu.
